Guwahati, Apr 4: In a major anti-narcotics crackdown, the Special Task Force (STF) and Kamrup Police seized heroin worth ₹1.5 crore and arrested three persons during a joint operation at Amingaon on Friday.
The operation, led by Additional SP Kalyan Kumar Pathak, was carried out based on specific intelligence inputs. Two women from Manipur—Kontha Ingalai (31) and Mamataz Begum (38)—along with a local peddler, Md Sahil Khan (43) from Rangia, were apprehended.
Police said a total of 182 grams of heroin, packed in 13 soap boxes, was recovered from their possession. The contraband was allegedly being transported for delivery to the Rangia-based peddler.
Officials confirmed that legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused. The STF has stepped up its crackdown on drug trafficking networks across the region, with more operations likely in the coming days.
