Dibrugarh, May 2: Three more active cadres of the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN) have been apprehended by security forces from different parts of Arunachal Pradesh over the past few days.
Security forces have launched extensive counter-insurgency operations across eastern Arunachal Pradesh to flush out insurgents operating in the region. Acting on credible inputs, intensified operations were carried out along the Indo-Myanmar border.
The apprehended individuals have been identified as SS Lt. Bewang Tangha, an active cadre of NSCN (KYA); Manseng Jugli of NSCN (KYA); and Kamnong Pangtha of NSCN-KK.
Taking to X, Arunachal Pradesh Police stated, “Based on credible inputs, security forces conducted intense operations along the Indo-Myanmar border over the past 4–5 days. On April 29, 2026, SS Lt. Bewang Tangha, an active cadre of NSCN (KYA), was successfully apprehended.”
“Acting on credible input, an operation in New Putok village on April 27, 2026, led to the arrest of Manseng Jugli, an active NSCN (IM) cadre. Further investigation resulted in the apprehension of Kamnong Pangtha, a member of NSCN-KK. A case has been registered at Nampong Police Station,” the statement added.
An official said, “Operations against insurgents are ongoing, and several NSCN cadres have been apprehended and sent to jail. The crackdown will continue.”
In a related development, three hardcore cadres of the NSCN-K (Nikki Sumi) faction were apprehended in Tirap district during a joint operation on Friday.
The arrested cadres have been identified as Wingan Agan (33), Jhonny Riba (21), and Rajapeyu Khechan Khetey (30).
“Based on specific intelligence inputs, a joint operation was launched by Assam Rifles and Arunachal Pradesh Police in the general area of Wancho Colony in Khonsa, leading to the apprehension of three hardcore NSCN-K (Nikki Sumi) cadres along with arms and ammunition,” an official said.
Security forces recovered two 7.65 mm pistols with magazines, nine live rounds of ammunition, three mobile phones, three SIM cards, GPRN documents, and suspected contraband worth Rs 500 from their possession.
