Dibrugarh, May 2: In a key step toward resolving long-pending boundary issues, a joint team of officials from Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, along with experts from the Survey of India, has completed a geospatial verification exercise along the East Siang boundary.
Arunachal Pradesh Public Health Engineering and Water Supply Minister Mama Natung said the survey, conducted on April 30 and May 1, identified 19 locations for installing boundary pillars based on jointly verified KML/geospatial coordinates.
The survey covered the stretch from the right bank of the Siang River to the Oyan–Jampani area and will continue up to Depi village.
Natung said coordinates from Jampani to the Ruksin Check Gate were successfully verified, with minor technical gaps near Oyan Bridge being addressed. He added that the scientific approach will ensure accurate and undisputed installation of boundary pillars by the PWD.
The exercise was completed smoothly, with officials from both states and Survey of India present, reflecting coordinated progress on sensitive border demarcation.
