Shillong, Jan 9: A tourist vehicle was destroyed in a fire incident at 11th Mile, Mylliem, in East Khasi Hills district on Thursday evening.

The vehicle, a Celerio with registration number ML 05 AC 2235, was engulfed in flames at around 6 pm, according to local sources.

Eyewitnesses reported that the driver and occupants managed to escape unharmed, and no casualties have been reported.

The vehicle was parked in the middle of the highway, causing traffic congestion as other vehicles were stranded due to the incident.

The origin of the vehicle and the cause of the fire are yet to be ascertained.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
