Police launched operations in seven different locations and effectively destroyed approximately 30,000 ganja plants in a single comprehensive campaign.

Pechartala Police Station sun-inspector Ringraimani Halam said, “Our operation was a resounding success, and we are committed to curbing drug cultivation in the region. We destroyed 30,000 ganja plants and the estimated market value of the confiscated narcotics is approximately Rs 20 lakh.”

The campaign saw active involvement of police officers and TSR personnel, all while considering the upcoming Durga Puja festival.

This anti-narcotics operation was carried out under the supervision of the district’s Superintendent of Police.

Sources said many in Tripura secretly do ganja cultivation because of its good demand in the market. Most of the ganja cultivated in Tripura is sold in other parts of the northeast.
