Shillong, May 21: Tsame M. Marak, representing East Khasi Hills has clinched the Gold Medal and set a new benchmark in the Under-16 girls’ javelin event at the State-level inter-school athletic Meet 2025.
Originally from Bajengdoba in North Garo Hills, Marak launched a remarkable throw of 31.38 meters, smashing the previous record of 28.64 meters set in 2024 by Wankynsai Pyrtuh of West Jaintia Hills.
“This is all because of the training at SAI Shillong,” said a proud and smiling Marak after clinching gold. “Breaking the record and winning means a lot to me.”
While she is yet to step onto the national stage, Marak has already competed in Zonal All India Inter-SAI competitions and now has her sights set on breaking the Under-18 record next.
Notably, Marak represented East Khasi Hills instead of her home district, North Garo Hills, as she is currently studying in Class 9 at Garo Union School, Shillong.
