Tura, June 9: Tura Civil Hospital has successfully performed a double chamber pacemaker implantation and angioplasty on a 44-years old woman from Williamnagar in East Garo Hills. The procedure was conducted at the newly installed Cardiac Catheterization (CATH) Lab.

The patient, who was initially admitted to Williamnagar Civil Hospital in critical condition, and was referred to Tura Civil Hospital just in the right time, any delay would have been fatal.

“The patient was in a very bad condition when she was admitted. Her condition was life-threatening, and immediate action was crucial,” said Dr. Jacob Abraham Ruram, Chief Cardiologist at Tura Civil Hospital. With the timely referral and the facilities at CATH Lab, we were able to perform both a double chamber pacemaker implantation and an angioplasty successfully, he further added.

The dual procedure not only stabilized the patient’s heart condition but also significantly improved her prognosis. “She is now recovering well and is expected to make a full recovery,” added Dr. Ruram.

The successful surgery marks a significant milestone for Tura Civil Hospital.
