Tura, March 12: Thousands of people gathered at Araimile junction, Tura on Thursday evening for a special prayer meeting, sending a strong message of unity and a collective call for peace in the region.
The programme, which began around 5 PM, was organised by members of the Peace Forum along with religious leaders and leaders of the Area Development Committee.

More than 2,000 people from nearby areas attended the gathering.
Religious leaders led prayers seeking peace, stability and harmony among communities, while organisers urged residents to remain calm and work together to maintain normalcy.

During the gathering, the crowd also sang the patriotic song “Ang Atchiram A·songtang Garo Hills,” a moment that brought people together and filled the atmosphere with a strong sense of solidarity and shared identity.

The prayer meeting concluded with a call for continued unity and cooperation among communities to ensure that harmony is maintained in the region.
Earlier, residents were seen coming out to clean the streets. Men and women used brooms and shovels to remove stones, burnt materials and other debris left behind by the protests.
