According to an official statement issued by the Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills, Marak was admitted to the hospital on March 11, 2026, with injuries to his right arm and right knee, along with other minor injuries. He was immediately attended to by doctors and kept in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for observation.

Hospital authorities later shifted him to the General Surgery Ward after his condition stabilised. Officials said he remains under constant medical monitoring.

The district administration has also appealed to the public not to circulate or believe unverified information, warning that rumours could create unnecessary panic and disturb public peace.

The update was issued by West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Vibhor Aggarwal in Tura on Friday.
