Shillong, May 25: Two wrestlers from Tura, West Garo Hills, Abdul M. Sangma and Balrang Raka Ch. Momin, made a mark at the first State Wrestling Championship 2025 by winning two gold medals.

Abdul won gold in the 72kg category, while Balrang took gold in the 86kg category.
Overall, the West Garo Hills team 6 medals – 2 Gold and 4 Bronze medals.
The finals were held at Anton Hall, Laitumkhrah, Shillong on Saturday.
President of the West Garo Hills Wrestling Association, Johnson G. Momin, lauded their self-trained journey, calling it a pure example of discipline and determination. “They have not only brought pride to West Garo Hills but to the entire Garo Hills region,” he said.

By winning the Gold medals, the duo has also earned a spot at the upcoming National Games, where they will represent Meghalaya.
The State Wrestling Association was also praised for hosting the first-ever state-level meet, marking a new chapter for wrestling in the State.
