Two Bangladeshi nationals arrested in South Salmara-Mankachar in Assam

Guwahati, Mar 31: Assam police arrested two Bangladeshi nationals in Western Assam’s South Salmara-Mankachar district on Saturday.

They have been identified as- Manjurul Hassan (55) and Osamanbin Hasen Sajib (32), both residents of Belua village in Bangladesh’s Sherpur district.

The village defence party (VDP) intercepted the two individuals suspected of entering Indian territory illegally. The VDP promptly alerted local police, leading to their arrest.

According to police, the two Bangladeshi nationals were nabbed from Jhanjhani village under the Mankachar police station.

“After investigations we have found that neither they possessed valid travel documents(passports or visas), they entered India illegally,” the official said.

Both were taken to Mankachar police station for further questioning.
