‘Shoot them’: Meghalaya BJP Youth president’s Instagram story targets Jantar Mantar protesters

Must read

Shillong, July 21: Meghalaya BJP Youth President Mewaker Lyngdoh Pakma on Monday shared an Instagram story calling for stronger action against protesters gathered at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.

The story featured a video of the protest with the caption, “Shoot them! Tear gas ain’t enough!”, along with the hashtag #UAPA_Sedition. It also highlighted alleged statements by some protesters, claiming they would “destroy the Parliament” and “create another Nepal.”

The protests at Jantar Mantar are being led by the youth-led Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), which is demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged examination irregularities, repeated paper leaks, and concerns over youth unemployment and government accountability.

The demonstrations intensified after activist Sonam Wangchuk began an indefinite hunger strike in solidarity with the protesters. His subsequent detention and hospitalisation further escalated tensions, with supporters alleging that peaceful protests were being suppressed.
