Imphal, Feb 16: Two illegal checkposts cum camps allegedly used by miscreants on the NH-2 in Manipur’s Churachandpur district were dismantled by security forces.
The joint Security forces dismantled the volunteer check posts at Kaprang and S.Kwatlian at Churachandpur district on NH-2.
According to reports, these posts/ camps had come into existence since the beginning of the conflict between the Kukis and Meiteis that occurred on May 3, 2023 and that cost the lives of over 260 individuals.
These camps were no longer required as the security situation had improved considerably.
“Security forces have taken over these locations and free movement of common vehicles is being ensured. Law enforcement agencies remain committed to maintaining order and safety on our highways,” said an official.
On the other hand, a huge cache of arms, ammunition and explosives were recovered from the border areas along the Manipur-Myanmar border.
Acting on specific intelligence of the presence of arms and ammunition at an illegal camp occupied by the militants at the Border Pillars 73 and 74 in Manipur’s Tengnoupal District sharing borders with Myanmar, the Assam Rifles launched a combing operation.
