Shillong, Feb 16: United Democratic Party (UDP) chief Metbah Lyngdoh on Tuesday expressed confidence that his party will be able to secure more seats in the upcoming 2023 Assembly polls.

“We will do very well in the next election. As I said, we should get more seats,” Lyngdoh told reporters.

He claimed that the people have realized that UDP is a party which they have to support.

He said that the party is ready to face 2023.

“I always consider that we should be in a better position and that will come only when the party as a whole will work together and be ready for the fight in 2023,” he said.

When asked if UDP can become an alternative to the NPP and TMC, the UDP chief however said that his party’s objective is to win 30 seats in 2023.

“That should be the aim of any political party,” Lyngdoh said even as he revealed that talks are there with other MLAs but are yet to reach any conclusion.
