Agartala, April 14: Union home minister Amit Shah will hold key poll rallies at Tripura and Manipur on Monday in support of party candidates.
BJP sources said that the Union Home Minister would arrive in Tripura on Monday morning and after addressing an election rally in northern Tripura’s Kumarghat, he would fly to Imphal.
East Tripura Lok Sabha constituency seat is a tribal reserved seat and this time BJP has fielded Kirti from the seat.
Kirti, is a member of erstwhile Royal family of Tripura and sister of Royal scion and founder of regional party TIPRA Pradyot Debbarma who recently supported the BJP led government in the state.
Kirti Singh who married in the Royal family of Chattisgarh, once had Congress links she was given ticket by BJP as a olive branch towards Pradyot Debbarma who had been leaving a movement demanding Constitution rights of the indigenous tribal people of Tripura.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s Monday rally would be the first such major elections event in violence torn Manipur, as due to over 11 months long ethnic strife, no political party has so far organised any kind of election rally in the trouble-torn state.
The BJP has fielded state education minister Thounaojam Basanta Kumar Singh in Inner Manipur and extended support to the Naga People’s Front nominee K Timothy Zimik in the Outer Manipur seat, reserved for the tribals.
