SHILLONG, JUL 28: The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) observed the 7th Dr Donkupar Roy Memorial Lecture on Tuesday, paying tribute to the former Meghalaya Chief Minister for his contributions to public service and governance.
Padma Shri Dr Manas Chaudhuri, former Meghalaya Cabinet Minister and Managing Director of The Shillong Times, delivered the memorial address on the theme “From Ordinary to Extraordinary: The Power of Purpose and Perseverance.”
Speaking to students and faculty at USTM’s Central Auditorium, Dr Chaudhuri said individual success stems from clarity of purpose and the resolve to stay the course.
“Purpose and perseverance are the two forces that transform ordinary lives into extraordinary achievements. Success is not defined by where we begin, but by the determination with which we pursue our dreams despite every challenge,” he told the gathering.
The event was attended by Sobha Choudhury, USTM Chancellor Mahbubul Hoque, Vice Chancellor Prof GD Sharma, and Prof (Dr) AC Kataki, Director of Medical Administration, PIMC.Remembering Dr Donkupar Roy, Mahbubul Hoque described him as a leader defined by simplicity and commitment to people.
He said Roy’s approach to politics and administration continues to serve as a reference point for young leaders in the state.
The lecture drew participation from students, teachers and members of the university community.
It ended with an interactive session where students raised questions on leadership, resilience and careers in public service.
