Tura, April 14: A voter awareness program was conducted at Fancy Valley, Tura on Saturday evening, urging voters to actively participate on polling day as part of the Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaign ahead of the 2024 General Election to the Lok Sabha.
Silje Sangma, District Social Welfare Officer, West Garo Hills, Tura, motivated the crowd to strive for a 100 percent turnout on polling day and emphasized the importance of voting in determining their own future.
Nipon Hanjong, MCS, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Election), Nodal Officer SVEEP/Awareness Cell, West Garo Hills, Tura, interacted with the crowd and urged them to actively participate on polling day. He mentioned plans to plant saplings with first-time voters and elderly voters, distribute gifts to early voters, and set up voter assistance booths at every polling center, staffed by a booth level officer and an anganwadi worker. He also mentioned that wheelchairs would be provided for voters unable to walk, ensuring no voter is left out.
Additionally, a flash mob dance performance took place, followed by the distribution of t-shirts to attendees.
