Who is Lal Thanzara? Cong leader who will be contesting the Mizoram polls from Aizawl North-2

Aizawl, Oct 26: Former minister Lal Thanzara will be contesting from the Aizawl North-2 constituency in the upcoming Mizoram assembly polls on a Congress ticket.

Thanzara is the brother of the former chief minister of Mizoram, Lal Thanhawla.

Thanzara will be contesting against Dr. Vanlalthlana of ZPM and PV Vanlalsawma of MNF.

He is presently the president of the Mizoram Football Association.

Thanzara won the last assembly polls from Aizawl North 3 by winning by 6,175 of the 10,916 votes polled.

He was the Cabinet Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Information & Communication Technology, and Information & Public Relations, and assisted his brother, the Chief Minister in the Public Works Department and Power and Electricity Department in the Government of Mizoram, till 2018.

This time, he will expect to give a tough fight to the other two candidates.

He resigned from Cabinet for allegedly holding a 21.6 per cent share of Sunshine Overseas, a construction company that was getting government contracts.
