Williamnagar, Nov 8: The Williamnagar Government College adopted Memo Lake, Bolkinggre, East Garo Hills as its “Adopt-a-Lake” Community Outreach Programme on November 7, 2022.
The College organized an inaugural programme cum cleaning drive at Memo Lake in the presence of A Ch Marak, Additional Deputy Commissioner, EGH District. Other invitees also included H. A. Sangma, Superintendent of Fisheries, EGH; K. O. Sangma, Fishery Officer, EGH; M. Marak, Tourist Officer, EGH; O. C. Sangma, President of Bolkinggre Village and P. K. Sangma, Nokma of Bolkinggre.
The College has adopted Memo Lake as its Community Outreach Programme for a period of five years which would enable the students, faculties and non-teaching staff of the Institution to collaborate with the community in cleaning, maintaining the water bodies and preserving the rich biodiversity of the District. The Principal, faculties and students of the college also participated in the cleaning drive as an activity of environmental awareness and preservation.
