AMKA is one of the most active sports associations in Meghalaya, hosting this championship as well as a separate tournament for schools and colleges on an annual basis, which regularly bring together hundreds of karatekas from around the state. AMKA has also consistently brought honour to Meghalaya with its athletes winning gold medals at regional, national and international events.

These feats were recognised by both Syiem and Pariat in their respective speeches.

Pariat, meanwhile, said that he is always happy to attend AMKA events as it is “one of the best state associations” in terms of discipline and activity.
