Dibrugarh, June 21: Pongchau village situated along Indo-Myanmar border in Arunachal Pradesh which was known insurgent activities is now making headlines for all the right reasons.
The inspiring achievements of two youths have shown the way how students from a remote village can be shining examples.
Longhee Wangsa who has started his career as sepoy at Assam Rifles has now become Assistant Commanding Officer at Assam Rifles through his dedication and perseverance.
Phohee Wangsa, a student of Government Higher Secondary School, Pongchau, also brought laurels for the village by securing second position in CBSE class 12 in Arunachal Pradesh.
Phohee Wangsa secured 91.8 percent in Class – XII, CBSE Exam 2024-2025 to bag the second position in the merit list in the entire state of Arunachal Pradesh.
The programme was organized by the Pongchau Village Council in collaboration with Pongchau Students Union. Longhee Wangsa, Assistant Commanding Officer of Assam Rifles and Phohee Wangsa, a student of Government Higher Secondary School, Pongchau, and a total number of 42 distinguished officers and personnel and meritorious students from the village were felicitated during the ceremony.
Longhee Wangsa had cleared the Limited Departmental Competitive Exam and is currently serving as an Assistant Commanding Officer in Assam Rifles while Phohee Wangsa secured 91.8 percent in Class – XII, CBSE Exam 2024-2025 to bag the second position in the merit list in the entire state of Arunachal Pradesh.
Laito Wangsa, ZPM from Pongchau said that it is indeed a matter of pride for the villagers of Pongchau to honour and felicitate distinguished officers and meritorious students since Pongchau is a remote village close to the Indo-Myanmar border and bereft of modern facilities. In reply, the felicitated persons and students too expressed their gratitude towards the organizers.
