4-year-old child goes missing from home as family still asleep; Search continues

Shillong, Sept 14: A four-year-old child has gone missing from the courtyard of a house at Nongrah Nonglum Brei on Sunday morning around 8 a.m.

Despite continuous efforts by local residents, members of the Village Defence Party (VDP), Seng Samla, and police, the child remained untraceable till late evening.

According to Michael Pyngrope, a local resident, the child disappeared soon after waking up, while other family members were still asleep inside the house. It was only around 8 a.m., when the child was not seen, that the family realized the child had gone missing.

Following the report, villagers along with VDP members and the youth of the locality immediately launched a search operation in nearby areas. Police also took up the matter with urgency and joined the efforts to trace the missing child.

When contacted, East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem confirmed that the search operation is ongoing. “All police stations have been instructed to be on the lookout for the missing girl,” he said.
