Shillong, Jun 19: The state’s administration has completed its preparedness review for the rescheduled NEET-UG 2026, with 4,164 candidates set to appear across 14 centres in the state on Sunday, June 21.

A high-level meeting chaired by Health & Family Welfare Secretary B Mawlong was held Friday at Committee Room-III, Additional Secretariat Building, Shillong.

The review focused on security, logistics and coordination for the National Testing Agency-conducted exam.

He urged all departments and agencies to maintain close coordination to provide a conducive environment for candidates.

District officials briefed the chair on measures in place, including security deployment, transport facilities for students, uninterrupted power supply, personnel allocation and other logistical support.

Traffic advisory for NEET candidates: reach Upper Shillong exam centre early on June 21

NEET (UG) Re-Exam aspirants allotted to PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya in Upper Shillong should plan for an early start on June 21.

The East Khasi Hills administration has cautioned that road movement to the area may be slowed due to security arrangements for a Union Minister’s visit scheduled the same day.

In a statement issued on Friday, Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills, said the VVIP visit to the Kendriya Vidyalaya, EAC Headquarters, will require traffic regulation on certain stretches leading to Upper Shillong. This could lead to congestion and delays around the exam hours.

To prevent students from missing their reporting time, the administration urged all candidates assigned to the Upper Shillong centre to leave home with ample buffer time and carry all mandatory documents for entry.

“All necessary measures are being taken to ensure the smooth conduct of the examination,” the DC stated, while seeking cooperation from residents and commuters.
