Itanagar, June 19: Prominent Arunachal Pradesh anti-drug campaigner Gumin Mize has been arrested in connection with an alleged rape case registered in East Siang district, police said on Friday.
Mize, known for spearheading grassroots campaigns against drug abuse across Arunachal Pradesh and parts of northern Assam, was arrested by personnel of the Pasighat Women Police Station on June 18 as part of an ongoing investigation.

East Siang Superintendent of Police Pankaj Lamba said the activist was apprehended around 2 pm and later produced before a local court, which remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody.
According to police, the case is based on a First Information Report (FIR) lodged by a woman on June 14. Investigators said the alleged incident took place on April 30 this year.
Police have booked Mize under multiple provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Section 64 (rape) and Section 75 (sexual harassment), among other relevant sections.

Officials said the investigation is ongoing and further details would emerge as the probe progresses.
The arrest has drawn attention across the state given Mize’s public profile as an anti-drug activist who has led several awareness campaigns and community initiatives aimed at combating substance abuse.
Police have not disclosed additional details regarding the allegations, citing the ongoing investigation.
