7 Bangladeshi nationals pushed back from Sribhumi

Must read

Guwahati, July 30: Security forces continued their crackdown on illegal infiltration as seven Bangladeshi nationals were pushed back from Assam’s Sribhumi area in the early hours of Wednesday.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed that the individuals were apprehended and sent back across the border by security forces in South Salmara-Mankachar district, along the Indo-Bangladesh border.

Reiterating the government’s hardline stance, Sarma warned, “Do not try and infiltrate, you will be CAUGHT and PUSHED BACK.”

Officials said the operation was part of an intensified drive to prevent illegal entry, stressing that anyone attempting infiltration would be swiftly apprehended and returned.

The latest incident underscores the heightened measures to curb cross-border movement. Just days earlier, 20 infiltrators were similarly pushed back from the same area, taking the tally to over 377 in recent months.

The Border Security Force (BSF) has also ramped up surveillance across the 1,885-kilometre Indo-Bangladesh border in the Northeast, particularly since unrest erupted in Bangladesh last year.
