Shillong, May 14: The All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has granted approval to the College of Architecture & Urban Planning, Tura, to start a degree course in Urban Planning from the 2026–2027 academic session with an intake of 30 seats, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma announced on Thursday.
Posting on X, the Chief Minister said, “Happy to share that the AICTE has granted approval to the College of Architecture & Urban Planning, Tura, a constituent college of Captain Williamson Sangma State University (CWSSU) to commence the Degree Course in Urban Planning from the academic session 2026–2027 with an intake capacity of 30 seats.”

He described the approval as a significant step for higher education and development in the state. “This is an important milestone for Meghalaya as it will create opportunities for our youth to pursue professional education in urban and regional planning within the State, while also building a skilled workforce to support sustainable and planned development across the state,” Sangma said.
