Williamnagar, Nov 2: The Catholic community of Williamnagar commemorated All Souls Day with deep dedication and profound reverence. All Souls Day is a sacred occasion reserved for honoring the departed, a tradition predominantly observed within the Catholic Church.

According to Catholic doctrine, the soul of a deceased individual is believed to embark on one of three possible journeys. The first destination is heaven, reserved for those who pass away in a state of perfect grace and communion with God. The second path leads to hell, where individuals who meet their end in a state of mortal sin are, by their own choices, naturally consigned. The intermediate realm is purgatory, where it is thought that most individuals, free from mortal sin but still burdened by lesser (venial) sins, undergo a process of purification and refinement before their eventual entry into heaven.

In Williamnagar, the Catholic faithful embraced this occasion by participating in a solemn Mass, adorning it with flowers, and illuminating it with candles. Their prayers were dedicated to the souls of their departed family members and friends. The cemetery of Williamnagar was adorned with an abundance of flowers and candles, creating a poignant and reverent atmosphere.

The holy mass was offered by Fr. Anthony Tekhanath the Parish Priest of Sacred Heart Church, Williamnagar. He informed the gathering that praying for the departed souls is much more important than decorating the tombs.
