Shillong, Aug 22: Cabinet Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh on Tuesday said the State government will deal strictly with insurgency in the State.
Speaking to reporters, Lyngdoh said, “We will disallow it. We will go all out against it.”
She also congratulated the Meghalaya police for arresting 11 members of the new militant outfit National Liberation Council of Nongkyndong (NLCN) recently.
“I congratulate the police force for having done the correct thing and this arrest sends a big message to others. We will say no to insurgency,” she said.
When asked, Lyngdoh said, “It cannot be connected like that because unemployment is a phenomenon which challenges any nation. You may be a developed nation or you may be an underdeveloped nation, you may be a first world country or a last world country but fact of the matter remains that you always have this new generation of people coming into the job circle. Just because there are no jobs, there is no business for you to carry arms.”
