Tura, July 2: In response to growing concerns over the misuse of fake Aadhaar cards for cross-border movement and identity fraud, a one-day training programme on Aadhaar verification was conducted on Wednesday at the DRDA Conference Hall in Ampati, South West Garo Hills.
The training, organised by the District Administration, was aimed at personnel from the Border Security Force (BSF), state police, Election Department enumerators, and the Certificate Branch of the DC’s office. It was held following a request by BSF authorities, who highlighted the urgent need to equip field personnel with skills to detect and verify forged Aadhaar cards in the border areas.
The session was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner Dolrich B.G. Momin, and attended by Assistant Commissioner Meai Kyrpang, along with officials from the Planning Department.
Nazibul Islam, Project Manager of the UIDAI Regional Office in Guwahati, served as the key resource person. He trained attendees on methods to verify the authenticity of Aadhaar cards using tools such as the UIDAI website, the mAadhaar app, and the Aadhaar QR Scanner app.
The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen border security and prevent identity-related frauds in the sensitive border district.
