Shillong, Oct 9: A seven-year-old boy, Kyrshanbor Kharmudai has gone missing from Lummarboh Block-4, Nongrah, Shillong, prompting a massive search operation by residents and local authorities.
According to reports, the child was last seen around 4 p.m. on Wednesday before disappearing from the locality.
As news of the incident spread, the Lummarboh village authorities declared a public alert announcement and mobilised residents to join the search effort.
The search operation continued late into the night, with residents, youths and women combing the surrounding areas. Despite extensive efforts, the boy had not been found as of 11 p.m.
Village head Dennis Lynrah informed that upon learning of the disappearance, villagers immediately organised a large-scale search involving nearly the entire community. “People from all sections mothers, youths and elders came out to look for the child, but we have not been able to trace him yet,” Lynrah said.
It may be mentioned that a similar tragic incident occurred recently in the same area just last month when a four-year-old child, Insaphira Lyngdoh Mawnai, who went missing was later found dead.
Authorities are now examining CCTV footage from the neighbourhood to trace any possible leads on the missing boy’s whereabouts.
The search operation is still ongoing.
