Itanagar, Dec 22: The State Police’s proposal to transfer Case No. Lazu PS FIR No. 10/2023, concerning the tragic death of late Yumsen Matey, former MLA of the 56th Khonsa West Constituency, Tirap District, Arunachal Pradesh, has been swiftly approved by the State Government.
The case, which includes charges under sections 302/120B/506/34 IPC, R/w Sec 25 (1B) (a) and Sec 27 of Arms Act 1959, as well as Sec 10/13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, pertains to the incident on December 16, 2023.

In a bid to ensure a meticulous and thorough investigation, the State Government has taken the crucial step of transferring the case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

The Home Department, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh, has already forwarded the case to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India, through a letter dated December 21, 2023, seeking the necessary directions for the NIA’s intervention.

This decisive action, authorized by Likha Sampu, Deputy Secretary (Home) Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh, Itanagar, underscores the government’s commitment to pursuing justice and bringing to account those responsible for the brutal murder of the esteemed ex-MLA.
