Itanagar, July 15: A 22-year-old man from Assam was allegedly shot dead at a worksite in Roing, Lower Dibang Valley district of Arunachal Pradesh, on Sunday.
The victim, identified as Shankar Pegu (22), was a resident of Borajuli village under the jurisdiction of Jinjiya police station in Assam’s Biswanath district.
According to police, Shankar was shot in the leg and head by one Tadar Bhai (31), a resident of Sagalee in Papum Pare district.
“He was shot following an altercation over work-related issues in the Kebali area of Roing. The incident occurred around 4 p.m. on Sunday,” said a police official.

Instead of taking the injured man to a nearby hospital, the accused reportedly drove over 400 km to the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) in Naharlagun, where Pegu was admitted around 11 p.m.
A police team from Roing reached Naharlagun by 2 a.m. and took Tadar Bhai into custody the same morning. The pistol used in the crime has also been recovered.
A case has been registered at Roing police station under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), relating to murder, read with Section 27(1) of the Arms Act.
