Guwahati, Mar 21: After being denied a party ticket, BJP leader Jayanta Kumar Das launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led Himanta Biswa Sarma government, alleging that nearly 10,000 fake social media accounts are being operated from the party’s state headquarters, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan, in Guwahati.
Das claimed these accounts are managed from “Room No. 501,” where young men and women are allegedly hired and paid to run them.

The controversy erupted after Das was denied a ticket, following which he openly rebelled against his own party. While several BJP leaders were denied tickets this time, only a handful have publicly spoken out against the party.
“Social media has become a crucial platform for politicians, and most BJP leaders are highly active on it. In this election, its influence is significant, with parties and candidates increasingly using these tools to gain an advantage,” said a social media expert.
Das also announced that he will file his nomination on March 23 and contest the election, even as an independent candidate if required.

He further launched a direct attack on Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, questioning his political strength and making additional allegations related to “political syndicates.”
Das expressed anger over Pradyut Bordoloi being given the Dispur ticket. Bordoloi had resigned from the Congress earlier, citing dissatisfaction with the party’s functioning.
Sources added that Himanta Biswa Sarma’s associates met Atul Borah and urged him to support Pradyut Bordoloi in the election campaign.
