Dibrugarh, Aug 26: The Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited (BVFCL) on Monday hosted a high-level delegation at its Namrup campus, marking a crucial step forward in establishing the Assam Valley Fertilizer Chemical Company Ltd. (AVFCCL) project.
The team included AVFCCL Chairman Dr. J.B. Ekka, Naharkatia MLA Taranga Gogoi, Dibrugarh Deputy Commissioner Bikram Kairi, AVFCCL MD S.P. Mohanty, senior officials from Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Ltd. (HURL), the district administration, and Projects & Development India Limited (PDIL).
During the session, PDIL’s Unit Head, Praveen Kumar, presented the project roadmap and clarified technical aspects, while BVFCL CMD, Mohan Raj Shetty, assured full support for the new venture. With a 40 per cent equity stake, the Government of Assam is the largest stakeholder, alongside NFL, OIL, HURL, and BVFCL.
MLA Taranga Gogoi reaffirmed the State Government’s backing, and AVFCCL leaders emphasised that the upcoming 12.7 lakh metric tonne per annum fertiliser unit will be a game-changer, creating jobs, boosting allied industries, and transforming Namrup’s socio-economic landscape.
The highlight of the visit was the unveiling of AVFCCL’s new logo, a design deeply rooted in Assamese identity. Created by BVFCL employee Aslam Khan, the logo blends motifs of tea leaves, paddy grains, and the traditional Japi, symbolising the agrarian strength and cultural heritage of Assam. The dignitaries praised the design for capturing both the spirit of the land and the vision of a modern industrial Assam.
BVFCL management and union bodies felicitated the guests, noting that the project represents not just industrial progress but also cultural pride.
The session concluded with a shared vision that AVFCCL will stand as both an economic catalyst and a symbol of Assamese ethos, ensuring sustainable growth for future generations.
