Shillong, July 30: BJP leader and Cabinet Minister, Sanbor Shullai on Friday encouraged the people to eat more beef than any other meat like chicken, mutton or fish.

“I encourage people to eat more beef than chicken, mutton or fish,” Shullai told reporters.

He said by encouraging people to eat more beef will curb the misconception that BJP will impose ban on cow slaughter. He said everybody is free to eat what they want in a democratic country.

Shullai, who has just taken charge of the Animal Husbandry & Veterinary department, also assured that he would also take up the issue of Cow Protection Bill with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to ensure cattle transportation to Meghalaya is not affected by the law passed in the neighbouring state.
