BJP national working president Nitin Nabin urges cadre to strengthen booths ahead of Assam Assembly polls

Guwahati, Dec 26 : Bharatiya Janata Party national working president Nitin Nabin on Friday called on party workers to intensify booth-level preparations in the run-up to the Assam Assembly elections, stressing that grassroots organisation would be decisive in the polls.

Addressing a gathering of party members in Guwahati, Nabin said the BJP was expanding its booth network in the state to sharpen its electoral machinery. “We earlier had around 28,000 booths; this time we are creating nearly 31,400 booths across Assam before the elections. Booth workers are the backbone of the party and define its future. Our focus must be on strengthening newly created polling booths and empowering booth-level workers,” he said.

With barely three months left for the polls, Nabin urged party members to work with discipline and unity. “Every worker must dedicate themselves from now on to help the NDA secure a decisive victory. In the BJP, the party always comes before the individual,” he said, adding that successes at the national, state and micro levels should be consistently highlighted among voters.

Emphasising alliance politics, Nabin said the focus should be on ensuring victories for NDA partners as well. “Our objective is an NDA win, not just a BJP win. We must work together so that our allies also succeed in their respective constituencies,” he said.

He also flagged illegal infiltration as a key campaign issue, alleging that rival parties had encouraged it for vote-bank politics. “Those who support illegal infiltration want governments to be formed at their convenience, but NDA workers will not allow that to happen,” Nabin said.

Referring to past allegations by the Congress of “vote theft” ahead of the Bihar polls, Nabin said the election results had later put such claims to rest.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who also addressed party workers, said the NDA was confident of returning to power. “Our target is to secure over 50 per cent of the vote share. If people give us around 60 seats and allow us to form the government, that is enough. We are confident that the NDA will form the next government,” Sarma said.
