Guwahati, Jan 13: The Border Security Force (BSF) apprehended a Bangladeshi national near the Indo-Bangladesh international border in Assam’s Mankachar district during the early hours of Tuesday.
The individual, identified as Mahmamad Masud alias Mistar, son of late Abdul Salam, a resident of Ratanpur under Rowmari police station in Bangladesh’s Kurigram district, was detained around 4:45 am near the border fencing area at Jordanga.
According to BSF sources, a group of seven Bangladeshi nationals carrying bamboo poles was spotted moving towards the Indian side of the border under the cover of dense fog. Alert BSF personnel on duty immediately took action, successfully apprehending Masud, while the remaining individuals managed to flee back into Bangladeshi territory taking advantage of low visibility.
During the search, two mobile phones were recovered from the possession of the apprehended individual. The detained Bangladeshi national was later handed over to the Mankachar Police Station for further legal proceedings.
