Williamnagar, June 29: A solemn candlelight vigil was held at Renggigre Playground in Raksamgre, to demand justice for late Pirot R. Marak.
The event was attended by family members and mahari (clan) of the deceased, along with members of various pressure groups, including Western Zone ADIL, AHAM, ACHIK Pedaldoba Unit, and AYWO Pedaldoba Unit. The participants gathered in solidarity, calling for swift justice and accountability.
Following a formal complaint by the family, the body of Pirot R. Marak was exhumed under the supervision of Dr. Rikrak N. Marak, Executive Magistrate of West Garo Hills, in the presence of Rozarius G. Momin, Officer-in-Charge of Tikkrikilla Police Station, and Marvinson T. Sangma, Sordar of Renggigre.

The post-mortem examination was conducted by Dr. Silang Lama Rongrokgre, Grade 1 Sub-Divisional Medical and Health Officer, on 12th June 2025.
According to the post-mortem report, Pirot R. Marak died due to strangulation, and his testicles were also severely damaged, indicating a violent and unnatural death.
In connection with the case, four individuals have been arrested, namely, Nennen R. Marak (wife of the deceased), Sengba R. Marak (her younger brother), Lepson R. Marak (her elder brother), and Reknang K. Sangma, who is reportedly in an illicit relationship with Nennen.
As the findings of the post-mortem confirmed that Pirot R. Marak was murdered, the bereaved family, Raksam Mahari (clan), and members of various local organizations united in the candlelight vigil to demand justice and ensure that the culprits are held accountable.
