Church leaders, MDC Macdalyn Mawlong seek improvement of roads in Nongpoh to host Silver Jubilee Celebrations of Nongpoh Presbyterian Church

Shillong, Mar 23: The MDC of Umsning, Macdalyn Sawkmie Mawlong, who is also the Executive Member of the KHADC, along with the Leaders of Nongpoh Presbyterian Church called upon the Deputy CM Prestone Tynsong in taking up improvement/rehabilitation work at Nongpoh, Ri Bhoi District on Tuesday.

The MDC along with the leaders which included T. Nongkhlaw, Secretary and S.L Wahlang, Chairman of the Reception Committee submitted a memorandum and the list of proposed construction sites that need improvement/rehabilitation for the preparation of the Silver Jubilee Celebration, marking the 25th year Anniversary of the Ri-Bhoi Presbyterian Synod.

A memorandum submitted to the Deputy CM said that Nongpoh Presbyterian Church will be hosting the Synod 2023 in the second week of March which will also be the Silver Jubilee Celebration to mark 25 years of the church. It is expected that there will be a large number of people, delegates from all churches within Ri-Bhoi Synod as well as other representatives in the congregation. In view of this, it is also anticipated that a large number of vehicles will be coming to Nongpoh during the main event.

The deplorable present condition of all roads in and around Nongpoh area including those leading to the Nongpoh Presbyterian Church and to the main venue for the event urgently needs improvement and rehabilitation to prevent any unforeseen incidents which may arise due to bad road condition and congestion during the event.

Some of the construction projects requested for improvement/rehabilitation work includes — MBT of a road from lewmawlong to Umbuda, improvement and construction of retaining wall on existing lewmawlong football ground, MBT of Diversion of Nongpoh (lewmawlong) bazaar, re-surfacing from lewmawlong to Nongkhrah road, MBT of a road from Kjat Lum Shami to Pahamsyiem, re-surfacing from NH 6 to Ri Bhoi College road and the improvement including re-surfacing from Pahamlapong to Mawroh road.
