Tura, July 11: Garo Hills is gearing up for a digital breakthrough as Tura prepares to host Clutch Tura 2025, the region’s first large-scale eSports and youth culture festival.
The event, set for July 18 and 19, is being organised by Event Horizon, a student-led group focused on event management and youth engagement.
“This is the first eSports festival of its kind in Garo Hills, and we’re proud to bring it to life,” said Jeremy Marak, president of Event Horizon. He added that the festival isn’t just about gaming, but also about spreading awareness.
This year’s theme, “Play Clean, Win Clean,” aims to promote anti-drug and anti-human trafficking awareness in collaboration with Ja•pang, a local advocacy group.
The gaming tournament will feature two major titles: Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) and FC25 (FIFA Console). Around 150 participants from across the region are expected to compete in high-energy matches, complete with live casting, commentary, and audience viewing.
But Clutch Tura 2025 is more than just an eSports competition. The event will also host live music performances by local bands and indie artists, along with food and merchandise stalls, giving attendees a full-fledged festival experience.
During a media interaction, Jeremy addressed a common concern about gaming distracting youth from education.
“Gaming can be a passion, but education is the foundation,” he said. “Even if you want to pursue a career in eSports, whether as a player, developer, or content creator you need skills like business management, coding, design, and marketing, which are learned through education.”
He stressed that while some succeed without formal education, most require structure, discipline, and knowledge to thrive.
“So my message to young gamers is this: don’t neglect your studies if you want to succeed—even in gaming.”
With competitive gameplay, live entertainment, and a strong social message, Clutch Tura 2025 is set to become a landmark event for the youth of Garo Hills—celebrating digital culture while inspiring a more informed and responsible generation.
