Shillong, Jan 13: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Friday laid the foundations for the Augmentation of the Umlyngka Water Supply Scheme and the Augmentation of the Nongkseh Water Supply Scheme under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in the presence of former Cabinet Minister & MLA of the Mylliem, Hamletson Dohling.
The inclusion of all Census Towns of Meghalaya in Jal Jeevan Mission will give areas that were deprived access to clean drinking water.

In Nongkseh, the overall amount sanctioned is Rs. 15.84 crores for 1230 households and in Umlyngka Rs. 28.89 crores for 2242 households.
“The inclusion of all Census Towns of Meghalaya in Jal Jeevan Mission will give areas, that were deprived, access to clean drinking water… Water is Life and we are happy that our efforts to push GoI to include our Census Towns is easing the lives of our people,” said the Chief Minister in his social media post.
Lauding the NPP-led MDA Govt., CM Sangma said the State of Meghalaya has risen from the bottom as the worst performer of JJM to one of the best performers in the country.
“Together with team Jal Jeevan Mission, Meghalaya we are working hard to ensure initiatives under the scheme are implemented for the people,” he added.
