Must read

Shillong, June 21: In a respite of sorts from the large number of Covid-19 cases detected last week, Meghalaya on Monday detected 269 cases. This is the lowest in more than one and a half month, the lowest since May 5, 2021 wherein the same number of cases were detected in a day.

Mentionably, the cases started to climb after April 30 in the State wherein 229 cases were recorded. Prior to the day, the cases were below the 200 mark, barring April 25 where 208 cases were detected. Since April 30, the daily caseload has not for once dipped below the 200 mark.

The cases once again falling to below the 300 mark is a positive news for the state, which means that the current containment measures along with the intensified vaccination drive is showing promise.

In the new cases detected, East Khasi Hills continues to lead the chart with 120 cases, followed by Ri Bhoi District – 57, West Jaintia Hills – 42, West Garo Hills – 13, East Garo Hills – 12, North Garo Hills – 10, West Khasi Hills – 06, East Jaintia Hills – 05, South West Garo Hills – 02, and South West Khasi Hills – 02.
