IPS-MPS reshuffle in Meghalaya; DIG Marak’s Tura-to-Shillong transfer revoked

SHILLONG, JUN 20: The Meghalaya government has ordered a major reshuffle in its police administration, cancelling the May 12 transfer of DIG Jerry Fiscer K Marak and posting several IPS and MPS officers to new ranges, districts and battalions with immediate effect.

A notification issued on Friday stated that DIG Marak’s transfer from Western Range, Tura, to Eastern Range, Shillong, has been withdrawn.

Instead, Sylvester Nongtnger, IPS, DIG (Security), Shillong, has been posted as DIG, Eastern Range, Shillong, on the recommendation of the Civil Services Board (CSB).

The reshuffle also includes changes in the CID, district police and battalion commands. Shailendra Bamaniya, IPS, SP CID, Shillong, has been transferred as SP, East Jaintia Hills, Khliehriat, replacing Pankaj Kumar Rasgania, IPS, who has been posted as Commandant of the 3rd MLP Battalion, Sahssein.

Dr Dara Aswaghosh, IPS, SP SCRB, Shillong, will take charge as SP CID, while Ashish, IPS, SP VIS, Shillong, has been posted as SP SCRB. Nazarius Lamare, MPS, Commandant of the 3rd MLP Battalion, Sahssein, has been appointed SP VIS, Shillong.

At the deputy commandant and additional SP level, Narender, IPS, Addl SP CBPS, Eastern Range, has been posted as Deputy Commandant of the 6th MLP Battalion, Umran. Neena Rabha, MPS, Deputy Commandant of the 6th MLP Battalion, will replace him as Addl SP CBPS, Eastern Range.

Anthony Ch. Momin, MPS, Addl SP, East Garo Hills, Williamnagar, has been transferred as Deputy Commandant of the 4th MLP Battalion, Sohpian, Nongstoin, while Krison R. Marak, MPS, has been posted as Addl SP, East Garo Hills.

In another change, John Clitzer A Sangma, MPS, DSP (HQ), North Garo Hills, Resubelpara, has been posted as DSP (HQ), East Garo Hills, Williamnagar, swapping positions with Subir Sangma, MPS.

Gobind Kumar Chetri, MPS, Assistant Commandant, 5th MLP Battalion, Samanda, has been transferred as Assistant Commandant, 6th MLP Battalion, Umran, against an existing vacancy.

The government said all postings will take effect from the date the officers assume charge and will remain in force until further orders.
