Dadenggre MLA gives telecom firms one month to fix network woes

Dadenggre, July 11: Frustrated by chronic mobile and internet disruptions in Dadenggre subdivision, local MLA Rupa M. Marak has given telecom service providers a one-month deadline to significantly improve connectivity, warning that poor network coverage is disrupting governance, education and essential public services.

The ultimatum came during a high-level coordination meeting at the office of the Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil), Dadenggre, where officials, village headmen, NGOs and telecom operators reviewed the region’s long-standing connectivity issues. The meeting was chaired by Marak and attended by SDO (Civil) In-Charge Rajkumar Hajong. Representatives of BSNL, Reliance Jio and Vodafone Idea (Vi) were present, while Airtel did not attend.

Expressing concern over the deteriorating telecom services, Marak said unreliable connectivity has delayed MGNREGA wage payments, hampered the delivery of government services and adversely affected students who depend on internet access for their studies.

Calling the situation unacceptable, the MLA directed telecom operators to take immediate corrective measures and ensure visible improvement within a month. He also made it clear that all telecom companies, including Airtel, must attend the next review meeting and present a status report on the steps taken to improve services.

During the meeting, Reliance Jio officials attributed the recurring disruptions to frequent power outages and repeated fibre cable cuts. They assured the gathering that work is underway to strengthen network infrastructure and improve both mobile and internet connectivity across the subdivision.

The meeting concluded with officials and telecom service providers agreeing to work in coordination to address the connectivity crisis and provide more reliable communication services to residents of Dadenggre.
