Tura, Jan 10: The district administration convened an emergency meeting following the incident close to midnight at the Superintendent of Police’s office in West Garo Hills.
The high-level meeting was attended by the Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, Additional Superintendent of Police, Circle Inspector, the concerned Officer-in-Charge, and representatives of the ACHIK.

Officials undertook a comprehensive review of the incident, assessing the prevailing security situation, progress of the police investigation, and the immediate administrative and policing steps required to maintain peace and public order across the district.
Authorities reiterated their commitment to a fair, impartial, and time-bound investigation, assuring that all those involved would be identified and proceeded against strictly in accordance with the law.

Representatives of the ACHIK organisation shared their concerns and observations during the meeting. The district administration assured them that preventive, protective, and confidence-building measures are being put in place to prevent any escalation and to safeguard communal harmony.

In a joint appeal, the district administration and police urged residents of Tura and surrounding areas to remain calm, cooperate with law-enforcement agencies, and refrain from circulating unverified or provocative information on social media or other platforms, warning that misinformation could disrupt public order.
Authorities said further updates will be issued as the investigation progresses.
