Itanagar, Aug 8: As part of the extended Independence Day celebrations, the Dibang Valley Police has launched a special two-day outreach and awareness programme titled the “Dibang Valley Police Module” at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Anini, Arunachal Pradesh.
Held on August 8 and 9, 2025, the initiative is designed to educate students of Classes 7 to 12 on key civic topics including legal literacy, personal safety, digital awareness, and empowerment.
The programme began with an inaugural address by Superintendent of Police Manish Shaurya, who spoke on Constitutional Rights of Citizens, highlighting the legal protections enshrined in the Constitution and the importance of knowing one’s rights, particularly in interactions with law enforcement.

A series of engaging sessions followed, delivered by officers from the district police. Inspector Prahlad Nath led a talk on Drug Abuse and the NDPS Act, detailing both the dangers of substance use and the legal framework surrounding it. Sub-Inspectors Yon Yao and L. Bolok focused on Cyber Crime and Digital Safety, equipping students with guidance on responsible internet use and ways to report cyber offenses.
Women officers L/Ct. Neja Ngongwa, L/Ct. Sumi Wangsa, L/Ct. Soney Tayeng, and L/Ct. Mumyam Dameng conducted a vital session on the POCSO Act and Child Safety, ensuring students are informed about protective laws against child exploitation. They will also deliver the concluding session on Gender Sensitisation and Women Empowerment, exclusively for girl students, to foster a deeper understanding of equality, respect, and self-confidence.
Additionally, SI Chote Lal Sahani will conduct a session on Traffic Rules and Road Safety, stressing the importance of road discipline, helmet use, and compliance with traffic norms.
JNV Anini Principal-in-charge Rintu Sil expressed gratitude to the Dibang Valley Police for crafting a well-rounded and student-focused awareness module.
The programme saw enthusiastic participation from students and staff alike, with interactive discussions, real-life scenarios, and practical tips that made the sessions both relevant and impactful.
SP Manish Shaurya remarked during the closing session, “The Dibang Valley Police Module is not just about lectures — it is about building a bridge of trust between police and youth, ensuring they grow up as aware, responsible, and empowered citizens.”
