Tura, May 8: The Two Day District Level Inter School Athletics Meet kick started on Wednesday at Pa Togan Nengminja Track and Field Stadium, Dakopgre, Tura where about 730 students from 30 different schools of the town participated with great enthusiasm. The Athletic Meet was organized by the District Sports Office, Tura.

The Deputy Controller of Examinations SSLC, MBOSE Jen Mueller P Marak who was the Former State Table Tennis Player and represented the State on various occasions, was present for the inaugural function. He felicitated the winners of various events held simultaneously on day one.

Felicitating the winners, Jen Mueller P Marak congratulated the Winners of various competitions for their active participation and urged all the athletes to practise every day whatever sports or activities they pursue and bring laurels to their respective schools and for themselves. Further, he advised the athletes to maintain discipline and encouraged the budding athletes to excel in their field of interest in future.

District Sports Officer, Tura Saljagring M Marak informed that various track and field events were organized which have been divided into different categories such as , under 14, 16, 18 for both Boys and Girls. He further informed that various track and field events comprising of 60 metre, 100 metre, 200 metre, 300 metre, 800 metre, 1000 metre, 1500 metres, High Jump, Long Jump, Discuss Throw, Shot Put, Javelin Throw, Medley Relay, Kids Javelin, etc were conducted during this Athletic Meet.

Teachers, parents, students, officials and staff of District Sports office, Tura and the locals attended the programme.
