Dimapur, June 15: The Chang Khulei Setshang (CKS) and Ao Senden on Monday cautioned against attempts to politicise or communalise the alleged sexual assault of a minor girl in Dimapur, warning that any effort to incite tribal tensions over the incident would be dealt with seriously.
In a declaration adopted during a special joint meeting held at the CKS office in Tuensang, the two apex tribal organisations said any individual or group found exploiting the case to spread hatred, misinformation, defamatory remarks or communal sentiments would face strong opposition.
The organisations stressed that such actions could inflame public emotions, create unnecessary divisions and undermine the long-standing bond of friendship and mutual respect shared between the Chang and Ao communities.

Condemning the alleged assault in the strongest terms, the two bodies expressed solidarity with the survivor and her family while calling for a fair and speedy investigation. They also expressed hope that all those found guilty would be awarded exemplary punishment in accordance with the law.
The CKS and Ao Senden further reaffirmed their commitment to preserving harmony and unity between their communities, stating that no isolated incident should be allowed to damage the social fabric of Nagaland.
Maintaining that justice must prevail without prejudice or communal overtones, the two organisations resolved to continue strengthening the age-old relationship between the Chang and Ao people while ensuring that the case is addressed strictly through the rule of law.
