Dy CM Prestone Tyngsong ask Sanbor, Hek to resolve differences

Must read

Shillong, July 11: National People’s Party (NPP) national vice president and deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong on Monday asked the two BJP MLAs – Sanbor Shullai and AL Hek – to resolve their differences at an appropriate platform.

“All I have to say is let them (MLAs) sort out in the BJP committee because I am not a member of the BJP I cannot say anything. But my suggestion to all of them is to please sort it out in your appropriate platform and the platform  is BJP executive committee or whatever they call it,” Tynsong told reporters.

On July 8, BJP leader and cabinet minister Sanbor Shullai had tendered apology on the recent incident during the meeting convened to garner support for the NDA presidential candidate, which he termed as “completely unintended” but was completely misinterpreted.

Shullai also sought timely action against his party colleague AL Hek for trying to gain political mileage due to the incident.

He had alleged that the issue has been blown out of proportion and it came as a rude shock to me as my own party colleague AL Hek tried to get some political mileage out of it adding the incident which happened within closed doors has gone on to become public.

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma had assured to take a decision at an appropriate time based on the UDP’s demand for action against Shullai’s alleged “unruly behavior” towards its president and Assembly Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh during the meeting called by the state BJP on July 6.

Shullai was alleged of interrupting the Speaker, who had raised issues related to atrocities against tribal minorities in the country.

Refusing to comment on the incident, Tynsong, who is also in-charge parliamentary affairs said that he was not physically present at the meeting as he was in Delhi and that he only came to know about the incident through the media.

“In fact as parliamentary affairs minister in-charge it has nothing to do with that particular meeting as that is not inside the house it is outside the house – that is purely a meeting for election so it is totally outside the house so there is no comment from me as parliamentary affairs minister,” he said.

Tynsong however said, “I personally feel decorum has to be there always. When I speak I think my colleague MLA should not interrupt when he speaks or they speak. I am supposed not to interrupt it inside the house or be outside the house.”
