EKH police establishes new police booth at NEIGRIHMS to enhance public safety

SHILLONG, DEC 5: The state police has inaugurated a new Police Assistance Booth (PAB) at the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS). This initiative aims to bolster on-site policing support and emergency responsiveness within the city’s healthcare sector.

East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police (SP) Vivek Syiem stated, “The addition of the NEIGRIHMS Police Assistance Booth represents an important step toward improving public safety and emergency responsiveness in critical medical environments.”

The booth, located near the main entrance of the NEIGRIHMS campus, will be operational round the clock, with police personnel responsible for emergency coordination and prompt response to security-related concerns. This move is expected to significantly improve response times and contribute to a safer environment for patients, medical staff, and students.

NEIGRIHMS authorities have welcomed the establishment of the booth, highlighting the importance of close cooperation with the police to streamline crowd management, enhance safety, and ensure timely intervention during critical situations.
